Items You May Need for Your Mini Goat Care

Tattoo Pliers:

I purchased online direct from Ketchum http://www.ketchummfg.com/index.cfm?c=4499&d=3119&do=detail&p=14982

I purchased model 50D plus  4 extra numbers and 3 letters  April 2006 and with post it cost $139.22 US
I think at the time the exchange was around $160.00 Australian

Measure Stick:

I purchased online direct from http://stores.ebay.com/FOR-MINIS-ONLY-Miniature-Horse-Tack

Debbie is a very helpful person and delivery was prompt.

I purchased  a mini alum height measurer plus a few small things and in May 2005
this cost $120.00 Australian
I have seen the same brand of measurer in Australian stores but they only seem to carry the full size version, not small enough for our mini goats.

Disbudder:

I purchased  online from Farmers Mailbox , they have lots of wonderful things. http://www.fmb.com.au/

The disbudder I purchased was 240v Fp280  700c  plus purchased extra the small
disbud cone.This cost $189.00  in June 2005

Clippers:

I purchased direct from Clipper World in Victoria  ph 59960853 or email clipperw@bigpond.net.au   or check for their specials on E Bay search for animal clippers.

Model Wahl KM2 with a 3F Blade.  $209.00 delivered. Jan 2007

This is a two speed clipper and the 3F  blade cuts to about 13mm from the skin which gives a nice even finish after clipping.

Teats:

I use the topper lamd and kid teats made by excal. They screw on to any soft drink bottle and have a flutter valve to let air in while they are sucking.  Meaning the bottle doesn't get sucked flat.. Some of them do need the hole cut a bit larger and don't screw them on to tight..  Most produce shops can get these in for you, usually around $3.00 each but will last at least the 4 months needed. If you can't get one locally I can post one to you.

Leads and Collars:
I found the dollar shops very reasonable .

Also $2.00 calipers  for canon measuring, when they have them in stock .

Feet Trimming:

I use a pair of straight snips to cut the hard hoof back but have always had trouble getting the pad nice and flat.
This knife is the best I have found,it is sharp and has a blunt end (for safety). They sharpen very well with a kitchen sharpener and are 150mm in length. I use the knife to get a nice flat finish to the bottom of the hoof.
They cost $4.50  plus post if you want to order one from me.
