Goats were first herd book recorded in approximately 1934.
It is thought that from the 1860's goats were bought to Australia from England
to provide milk on the long sea voyage.

In the harsh Queensland climate dairy cows did not do well but the goat flourished.
Goats became a reliable source of milk, meat, transport and recreation.
The goats pulled carts to haul water and firewood.
For recreation the children rode them in races and raced in carts "Billy Carts"
